History:

The U.S.S. Intrepid, NCC-1730 was a constitution refit class vessel launched in 2274 from the San Francisco Starfleet Yards under the command of Captain Sten Tarak, and later Captain T'Vel, who commanded her until she was decommissioned. The Intrepid is to serve with distinction for over forty years, finally being retired from service in 2317, one of the last few such vessels to be decommissioned.

Intrepid was mentioned in some Star Trek IV publicity material, although was never seen. The registry number comes from the Franz Joseph Star Trek Technical Manual.

    There are two contemporary era Intrepids - HMS Intrepid, sister ship of HMS Fearless, Landing Platform Docks that were recently decommissioned.
