Fitted with the Taylor-Azik MK-6 torpedo load/handling/launch system, the Pharris returned the torpedo launcher to the traditional location under the Bridge. The Pharris was designed for speed, at the expense of warp manoeuvring. The trials in the early 2290s were a success, leading to an initial order of 24 vessels; six were assigned to Tacfleet and the remainder to internal patrol of hostile sytems.
